The Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Department is challenging other Pasco County Departments – and the public – to take part in the Fifth Annual Cardboard Boat Race on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
Two competitions are open to the public: a Timed Race across the pool and a Last Boat Floating contest. The Cardboard Boat Race is a unique opportunity to test your design, building and racing skills. Social groups, families, friends and business organizations are encouraged to enter. You don’t have to register in advance – just show up with your boat and be ready to set sail! Regular pool entry fees apply: $4.00 per adult / $3.00 per child. Kids two and under get in free. Every student will receive a raffle ticket which will enter them into a drawing for the school supplies giveaway. 12 raffle tickets will be pulled every 15 minutes and the winning tickets will receive free school supplies. Students must be present to receive school supplies, while supplies last. The school supplies given away are geared for ages 5 to 13, but kids of all ages are encouraged to attend the event.

Let's Walk Florida is a 12 week healthy lifestyle challenge designed to promote physical wellness where community members team up to start a lifelong walking habit. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams and individuals at the end of the program! The only face to face meetings are the Kick Off Event and End of Program Celebration.
Teams of 5 or Solo walkers are welcome! Participants track their minutes of physical activity (any physical activity counts, not just walking!) each week and report it to the Extension Office. Participants will receive wellness tips in a weekly newsletter along with an update on who is in the lead for the challenge!

No matter how many cattle you own or manage, the genetics of the herd can greatly affect the profitability, health, and performance of your operation. The seminar is designed to teach cattle owners how to use performance data (Expected Progeny Difference and Indexes) as well as physical traits to choose bulls and replacement heifers for their herd. Additionally, breed differences will be discussed to help you make decisions for what is best in your operation. Participants will learn how yield and quality grade is determined in market cattle, as well. This will essentially be a livestock judging class for adults!
